Traveling with four kids ages 10 and under can have its challenges. Add in some high temperatures and restlessness is sure to ensue. But somehow the lake brought a sense of serenity and curiosity that was just enough to make this short getaway so memorable. Bass Lake is at very low capacity, and seeing the shored up docks and lack of boats is a little disconcerting. But it did make for some great exploring and ability for the kids to get a glimpse of the unique lake bottom rarely seen. We cooled off from the day's heat down at the docks and I took advantage of the gorgeous evening light as they played. And the kids were sure entertaining to the occupants in the surrounding cabins!
